Children are fascinated by technology and the limitless uses of high-speed internet. But what happens when their favourite show or game is keeping them up at night?
Unlimited data is great for education and entertainment, but unlimited screen time can be harmful to your child.
How Much Screen Time is Bad?
While screens can help to keep children quiet for a while, it’s important to know when it’s too much. The signs of too much screen time can usually be seen over long periods of time.
For example, children gaining weight, having behavioural issues and screens interfering with sleep. When these symptoms are visible, the cons of internet use outweigh the pros.
The problem doesn’t stop with kids, as many adults overuse electronics too. Both adults and children can limit screen time using parental controls.
How to Limit Screen Time
Aptus uses a Fritz!Box 4040 router as standard issue. This router has parental controls which allow parents to restrict internet use by device.
With Fritz!Box 4040 parental controls, you can set the number of hours per day allowed on a device or a group of devices. This means that a child’s mobile phone, tablet and gaming console can have a combined set time limit per day.
Screen limitations can also be set by the time of day so internet use doesn’t happen outside of set hours. For example, children would have internet access until 9 pm each evening.
